![]() They wanna promote more aggressive play, thats great, but bow tanking is the main way of playing for Yamato - mainly because its so effective now, but also because abysmal turret traverse pretty much deny her a fallback pattern if bowtanking fails. Now I feel that even if roles reverse and Yamato will be on the weaker side, it wont be as much as now its on the strong one - but I feel it should maybe get some turret traverse buff to compensate. Yamato shells dont have more penetration, and not much more damage - the overmatch mechanics while often exaggerated, was what really made this ship outclass the opponents. It will basically even the playing field, while yamato will be left with less guns then competition and terrible turret traverse. Im actually not really sure if Yamato will keep the crown after the armor change. ![]() But its tier for tier a downgrade from NC in my opinion. So if you love Iowa as a ship, and want to have her - she is not terrible, and she definitely can be used with success. So there is no "light at end of tunnel" like with Izumo. You wont meet t6 on other hand, and t7 BBs are vastly more dangerous to you then t6 were to NC - especially after the incoming bow armor nerf, all the t7 will penetrate your bow easily - something t6 wont do to NC.įinally, Montana is still underwhelming, and after introductiong of the Gross Wurst, lacks its niche. However you will face t10 more, and they will demolish you. Frederick is a good ship on its own, but it definitely doesnt outclass Bismarck like a tier higher ship should. Izumo vs Amagi is a different style of playing, but it doesnt feel like an upgrade. The "saving grace" here, is that all the t9 BBs while they can work (and many people do make them work), feel like kind of sidegrades from t8. Im trying to be very generous here, because you might just say the ship is bad - since other ships dont require that. Angling at close range is much harder (enemies tend to come from more varied directions), torps are more commong. All that makes it a very hard ship to handle at close range. Its also a really long ship with bad turning radius and worse rudder then NC - so torps are an issue too. It has absolutely monstrous citadel, and yes its a lot easier to hit then NC - its higher, its longer, its just awful. Now the thing is, Iowa has glaring weaknesses in doing so, and ones that are very hard to overcome. So that leaves you with going close and personal to do damage. At higher ranges they get good again, but then the dispersion strikes you hard. Iowa guns seems to have large "ineffectiveness" zone from 12-15 km to 20-22km. NC guns with their very lazy arcs, tend to do a lot better at long range (they simply strike the deck). However they only really show that capabilities at sub 15, preferably sub 12km ranges. More pentrating power, more velocity, more damage. Problem is, the ship is full of contradicting values, and compensating for your drawbacks can be hard at times. Now opinions may vary, but at least thats certain for me - its a much trickier ship to play. Please note, only game accounts created using Steam version of the game are officially supported due to technical reasons.Iowa tier for tier is inferior to NC in my opinion.
